We have tried really hard to play together and say nice things. 

What's been happening in Room 6?

Here are some of the things that have been happening in Room 6 over the last Level 2 weeks at school!    

Isaac and Isaiah have been constructing a Moon house.

 

Kenlei and Taka have started paper mache - a Kiwi and shark!

                                                      

Harriet is making a Woodpecker

Hanna and Jessica are making ladybirds.

Jade and Hanna have been working on finding halves and quarters

We've been practicing our throwing and catching during fundamental skills on a Thursday.

Cullen, Tiana and Jessica have been learning about the phases of the Moon.

Jiwan has been ordering the planets in our Solar System.

One of our activities has been constructing a Moon vehicle that can transport materials across the room.

We have also been working our maths brains by finding different ways to add to numbers up to 30!

              Aotea, River, Cullen and Alex working together getting ready for our Vibe assembly!

Being Involved : sharing

We are practising playing with each other. We have learnt that 'Being Involved' can mean that if you share your game with someone then they are 'Being Involved' too.

Being Involved

Riley and Ibrahim had fun lining up the fruit together. They counted the fruit as they put them down in groups. They enjoyed singing "Baby Shark" and "I like to eat..." together.

Settling back in to school

We are happy being at school. We love learning and playing with our friends.

Friday's home learning

Toy Graphing Day (maths focus):

Gather your cars, trains or any other collections together.
Sort them out by colour, shape or type.
Display (graph) them in a way that you can talk about things you notice with
your family. E.g. which colour do you have the most of, which is the least popular toy etc.

Your teachers would love to see photos of your graph and hear about what
you noticed. Feel free to email photos or your discussions to your teacher.

Wednesday's home learning activity

Nature Art Day:

Collect items from around your garden and create a picture.
E.g. sticks, leaves, stones, petals.

Links to the curriculum:
The Arts - explore a variety of materials and tools.

Maths - count the objects you use in your art.

Literacy - talk about what you have created, write a story about what you
have made. E.g. “I am a butterfly. I can fly high”.

Science - discuss seasons and why leaves are  falling or browning,
see what animals/insects you can find in the garden.
Discuss what plants and insects need to grow/stay alive.

Your teachers would love to see photos of what you have created and
learned. Feel free to email photos or your stories to your teacher.

Remember to praise effort and have fun in the process over the final
product.

We are really excited that on the 25th and the 26th of February Tipuranga Team start their swimming.

Room 7 will be swimming on a Tuesday at 2.15 pm

Room 6 will be swimming on a Wednesday at 2.20 pm

Room 16 will be swimming on a Wednesday at 1.15 pm

Room 17 will be swimming on a Wednesday at 1.45 pm

Managing Self

Rooms 6 and 7 we have also been learning about what managing self is all about.

In our Exploration Time using our Managing Self skills.

We talked about what managing self looked like.

Helping people learn by not distracting others
